Physical Education

The objective of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of physical activities. Through these activities students will develop their physical skills and their knowledge and understanding of sports. The course also aims to develop the students personally and socially.

Throughout the Elementary Physical Education curriculum, emphasis is placed on maximum participation and the enjoyment of taking part in physical activities. The overall aim is to develop a healthy attitude towards fitness and exercise.

The Lower Elementary program for Early Childhood – Grade 3 focuses on developing the skills of the individual students. Loco-motor skills, traveling and movement as well as hand-eye coordination activities will be taught using a variety of equipment. Students will be expected to cooperate and work with other students in pairs and small groups.

For Grades 4 – 5, there is a significant shift towards teaching specialized sports and their respective skills and techniques. These skills are identified and practiced before being applied to the games.
